Yellowstone National Park Hours of Operation

Yellowstone is truly a magical place to visit. If you are considering a vacation to this amazing national park I promise you won’t be disappointed. I have been visiting the park since I was a boy and as a middle aged man I still get excited when visiting the park. To help you in planning your vacation I have written this post to inform you on the park hours.

Yellowstone National Park will open to motorized wheeled vehicles for the summer season on the following dates: April 15, 2011—West-side roads open to motor vehicles that is if the weather permits. You can travel by car through the park’s north & west entrances to Norris, Madison, Canyon, & Old Faithful. May 6, 2011— The east entrance will open to motorized wheeled vehicles.

It is important for you to understand that different areas of the park including entrances and roads open on different dates. The summer season runs from approximately mid April to the first part of November. For current information about when roads will open and close I have included the following link:

When a road officially opens it will stay open twenty four hours a day seven days a week. The only time that this would not be true would be because of construction or weather-related issues.

Insiders Tip:

During spring and before the roads officially open to motorized vehicles, some roads are open to non-motorized recreational vehicles such as bikes and roller blades. For the biking enthusiasts this is remarkable way to enjoy the park. You will have a very unique experience, it will seem as though you have the park all to yourself. Take note that there will be some maintenance vehicles on the roads so make sure you stay alert and watch where you are going. Safety first!

Thanks for the visit!
